The challenge
Next-generation telecommunication networks, particularly those based on 5G Standalone (5G SA) infrastructure, require increasingly intelligent and predictive monitoring systems. Traditional statistical-deterministic models are no longer sufficient to detect anomalies, complex correlations, and future traffic trends in real time.
Solutions
The D.A.I.MON. (Dynamic Artificial Intelligence Monitoring) project, funded under the MISE – Innovation Agreements (II call), aims to implement an AI-based traffic monitoring and analysis system. The platform leverages machine learning techniques to:
- Detect anomalous events and critical issues
- Predict network traffic evolution
- Measure end-user Quality of Experience (QoE)
Designed for cloud environments and integration with IoT networks and Machine-to-Machine protocols, the system supports automation and orchestration mechanisms for next-generation networks.
Key results
Thanks to the collaboration between RESI S.p.A., IPS S.p.A., NetResults S.r.l., and the University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum), the project delivers:
- A new predictive model for 5G network management
- Improved service quality (QoE)
- Automation of network monitoring processes
- Advancement toward autonomous and self-optimizing networks
